HOMEFEEDS Kienyeji Poultry Feeds

At Homerange Poultry Kenya, our focus and specialization is on the Kari Improved Kienyeji Chicken developed by the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organisation (KALRO) - Formerly, Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI)!

We pride ourselves in ensuring that the best poultry farming practices are continuously implemented on our poultry farm ensuring no inbreeding amongst our chicken and most importantly applying selective breeding, hence guaranteeing our customers the highest quality kari improved kienyeji chicken, that gives them high production and high disease resistance.

The KARI Improved kienyeji chicken are adaptable to any environmental conditions whether hot or cold. The breed is well known as a strong dual-purpose chicken, a good poultry breed for year-round egg laying as well as meat production. The hens are broody and good mothers and they will lay eggs year round producing 280 - 320 eggs per year.

Additionally, the breed matures faster compared to the ordinary kienyeji chicken, attaining a market weight of 1.5 - 1.8 kgs within 4.5 - 5 months.

With so many many breeds being labelled kienyeji chicken, it is worth clarifying that KARI Improved Kienyeji is the only improved breed that is 100% kienyeji as it has NOT been crossbred wth any exotic chicken (i.e. broiler) in the course of its development. KARI Improved kienyeji chicken thus guarantees the comsumer the same great taste, same unparalled quality and texture of the ordinary local indigenous chicken.
